MIST 526 Interactive Multimedia for Instruction

 

Narratives:
This course has assisted me to learn the design and application of the principles of media (text, sound, video) design in the production of instructional materials primarily through the use of computers but applicable to all media. It helped me on  how to apply the principles of multimedia design (text, graphics, sound, animation, interaction and video) to create instructional materials, computer games and web accessible e-learning. It also covered the effective use of Learning Management Systems and a variety of digital communication and presentational tools.

Outcomes:
Now I am able to do the following:

• Effectively use digital still and video cameras, scanners, webcams, audio recording devices, and other hardware; and assorted multimedia software.
• Research, locate, design, capture, edit, convert, and use imagery, audio and video and interactive multimedia to enhance learning.
• Effectively plan the development of a multimedia project and manage its media assets, and to select and use appropriate media tools and software to develop a solution to an instructional problem.
• Develop a working prototype of one instructional module by the end of the semester that utilizes substantive multimedia elements and demonstrates their technological approach to address an instructional problem using appropriate interactive feedback systems in instruction.
• Define issues relating to copyright and ownership, and Fair Use and Digital Commons movement and explain how they impact digital media technology and education.
• Appropriately use multimedia with awareness and sensitivity for cultural and social norms, standards, symbols, issues of diversity and social justice.
• Develop effective feedback systems in instruction.
• Select and use appropriate media tools to develop a solution to an instruction problem.
• Develop multimedia learning objects that address the instructional problem.
